Hello folks, would someone be willing to answer some questions about Marlin 39M?
This rifle is serial# M66xx, 20" barrel, trigger is blued, no scope mounting holes on top of receiver, straight stock, square lever loop, ramp front sight, brass magazine, microgroove barrel.
Received in pieces. Missing rear sight.

No firing pin spring. Should there be one?
4 holes drilled and tapped at around 10 o,clock in barrel in front of receiver. Is this for factory scope mount? If so, are they available? Where might I find one?
Would rear dovetail sight still be available? Where might I find one?
Any idea what year this was produced?
Checkered plastic buttplate, say,s "BISHOP" is this aftermarket or....?

This is the neatest little .22 lever I,ve ever seen. Would like to restore to her former glory.
Thanks for any info you can provide.

M's DOM was 1955.
It would have been tapped for a scope mount on the barrel.
There would not be a firing pin spring.
You should subscribe to rimfirecentral.com and publish the same information to that site. There is also a disassembly sticky that should help.
gravelagencies.com might be able to assist or Western Gun Parts in Edmonton.

I have a '39 with the holes in the barrel for a weaver n3/n4 side mount. Many of these were done by Marlin in the factory! By '55 the receiver was D&T to accommodate a top mounted base. No spring for firing pin. Rear sights are still available.

These are awesome gems! Longest running production of a repeating .22. Any effort you put into it will be well worth it. They fetch a good buck, and shoot like the dickens.
