So I plan on getting my PAL in the near future, although I'm not particularly new to firearms (went to college in the states and got to do some shooting, and research, lots of research) and I was thinking of putting together a 12.5" barrel 870 as a project gun. I have most of the parts I'll be using picked out already, and just need some knowledge to get it all planned out in my brain.
First off, since I plan on making this a shorty, how do the 870 and the Dominion Arms Grizzly stack up in terms of build quality, reliability, and parts compatibility? is it worth it to get an 870 and swap out the barrel or should I just get the Grizzly?
Second, I'll want to put a pic rail on it, 'cause I love me some reflex sights, it's just not tacticool enough without it ya know?
but most of the 870s I've seen aren't drilled and tapped for it, where might i find one that is so equipped? If it's not practical to find one, would I be able to get a gunsmith to do it for me and how much would it probably cost?
And Third, for the Dominion Arms 12.5" barrel, I have heard murmurs that it is not threaded for a choke, I primarily intend to use 00 buck and slugs in this gun (will be casting and reloading to keep costs down) will this be a problem? If so, would it be possible to get that threaded for a choke?
thanks in advance for your help.
