Went to the cabin hunting this past weekend and when I went to check my trail cam I noticed something just wasn't right with it. The camera was pointed in a weird direction and the screen showed it was on test mode. When I opened it up to retrieve the SIM card it was gone.WTF why would someone steal a card and leave the camera? One thing I know is that I'm getting sick and tired of having stands and hunting stuff ripped off. I'm assuming it's other hunters and that's what pisses me off the most, I always thought that as fellow hunters we should respect each others stuff. What am I supposed to do, start booby trapping my gear. I work hard for the little bit of equipment I have and whether it's $20 or $200 I spent my hard earned cash to buy it. Thanks for listening to my rant.:ang

Sim card or SD card? The people who stole it probably had there pic taken on it and didn't want you to know they were there.

X2

Somebody trespassing, noticed the camera and took the card, but was polite enough to leave your camera. It's still a p*ss off fur sure, but I'd rather be out a $15 card than a $150 camera.
I've used a label-maker to put stickers on my camera that say "Anti-theft GPS." It will probably only fool the idiots, but hopefully that's most of the trespassers.

Set-up a 2nd cam to watch the 1st one, place it HIGH & try to camoflage it well...

There are a lot of thieves out in the bush. I lost a couple tree stands that were chained and locked to the tree. They hacksawed the chain and even took it and the lock. Had a spare tire that was so bald the cords were showing and they unbolted it from my rear door carrier on my van. but whom ever took your card, certainly knows computers and how the camera worked. Not only do trespassers steal your property, they take your privacy, your priviledges to own your land, but also your hunting rights.

I was trolling an anti hunter meeting in california a few years back, and one of the hippies said he regularly takes the card out of trail cams, takes a photo of his junk, and puts is back in the camera.

Maybe the guy stole the card because he didn't want you to have pics of him trespassing?

Anyway, all these threads are making me nervous. Put up my first cam last week (on private property I'll be hunting). Hope it's still there!

I have a friend of mine that found a hunter's trailcam and salt block. He looked at the photos of the big buck on the camera and then deleted all the photos off it but put it back into the trailcam. He then proceeded to urinate on the salt block. He said that it was in "his hunting area". It's actually crown land and I completely disagree with what he did.
