I had the same question, What`s wrong with it being a single shot? I have a couple old Mod 112`s.. deadly.. And a new ZR-100 in 204 as well as 13 Ruger #1`s :rolleyes:
 
Right bolt, left port. Kind of neat but does anyone see a problem when one actually has to reload for say a followup shot? With a bipod or rest or something perhaps not so bad...but any other situation, load the cartridge, work the bolt, "crap, I just dropped my rifle"

Bench acrion, for shooting off a rest, for sure!

Sometimes we get confused when talking about "varmint rifles".
Walking varminters are different rifles than bench varmint or heavy varmint rifles!:)

I sent my order in already. I was wondering if I am reading it right. Is the 22-250 1-9 twist or just the 223. I just ordered both just incase. Figure I can rechamber the 223 if the 22-250 is not 1-9.
 
This is the first mass produced rifle to offer a custom action feature. The right bolt, left port is very common in BR shooting. Helps with the speed of loading and shooting.

I bet many will get gutted for their actions alone. Will be interesting to see what it costs in Canada?

It may very well be easier for them to amrket the whole danged rifle than just the barreled action!

The long range boys'll love this one, as more than a few are now useing the Savage action after the 1 mile record was smashed with one.
IIRC the stock was a Shehane laminate, not a composite, and a Hart barel in 7WSM!
Savage is likely going to sell a smack of these rifles!

I have built several quality shooters using the box stock 110 action. These all shoot bug holes groups at short range and sub MOA at LR (limited by the guy at the helm).

They work very well for LR hunting/varminting/tactical/plinking.

Now the tactical crew will have little use for a single shot but everyone shooting off a bench does. There are a lot more that would shoot, even in competition, with these actions (that left port is definitely geared to the comp shooter). Just a function of costs and availability.

The LR match shooters use barrel blocks quite often so rigidity issues with any action is moot. Many have used them successfully so I don't see an issue with Savage selling a bunch IF they keep costs down.

I would like to see the complete rifle around the $700 street price. They could just throw it in a plastic FV stock and call it a day for around $550.

We will have to see how much they charge. If it approaches BR action costs, forget it.

My vote is for one with a magnum bolt face and a very LOOOOONNNNGGGG ejection port.
