Something new for the Savage fans.

I sent my order in already. I was wondering if I am reading it right. Is the 22-250 1-9 twist or just the 223. I just ordered both just incase. Figure I can rechamber the 223 if the 22-250 is not 1-9.

6mm You'll have to rechamber the 223 to 22-250. see twist spec's below..
223 is 1-9,
204 and 22-250 are 1-12 ...closer but no cigar.

US suggested retail $967... that's still a lot of Canuckistan dinaro's
and the trigger is still a Savage....but they are stepping in the right direction.

I think they were thinking very clearly.

I'll bet you two hamburgers and a Dr. Pepper, that this rifle sells as fast as they can produce it! :D

So with the left port, what would you do with this rifle?? How would a left port be better for you than a right port??

On a bench rifle many shooters prefer a left port for right handed shooting so they don't have to move around as much when loading, or look over the stock to load.

When sitting at a bench, loading from the left, with you left hand is slightly faster than taking your right hand off the bolt and loading with your right hand. In addition the scope and receiver can block your view of the right hand port.

All the better to jump on a wind condition.

The down side is you are looking directly into the port when shooting right handed, with no reciever partially blocking any nasty effects of a reloading "brainfart" .

OK granted. But you are talking about using this rifle for benchrest. It will not be accurate enough for benchrest. If it had a right port and a good calibre and a longer barrel it would be ok for F class, or target rifle in a 308, but not benchrest.

My vote is for one with a magnum bolt face and a very LOOOOONNNNGGGG ejection port.

I agree with this idea, if they want to call it a Long Range Prescision Rifle then they will have to chamber it in something that will get out there.

It would be interesting to see this in 243/6mm with a fast twist barrel or 6BR for long range gophers.

Tye World record for one mile Benchrest is still heald by a Savge acxtioned rifle, IIRC.
Tearing this one down would be no different thatn tearing down a Remington or sako single shot action when doing up a BR rifle.

People do it all the time for BR rifles, custom hunting rifles ,or tactical style toys.
I think it would be fine.
For "F" class it would also be great!

Not for F class. fclass is shot prone. you lean on your left arm, work bolt and load with right. plus you need a longe range calibre and Savage is not offering a decent long range calibre.
Give it a 28 in bbl. right port, 6BR or .243 and you might have an F class rifle.
