I had my Ruger #3 in 30/40 restocked (and reblued) by Mr. Chris Dawe and he transformed my favourite little deer gun into something special. I asked him to make it point like a shotgun for a quick handling, still hunting rifle and with the XS sights, it more than fits the bill.

It cost a little bit more than a Stevens 200 would, but it's a whole little prettier to look at than a stack of dollar bills.

I didn't actually shoot it for groups before the restock, but over the hood of my truck with a blanket it put two shots almost touching at 50 yards.

I think it's a keeper ;)

Beautiful work! I really like the shortened lever.
I recut the stock on my 22 Hornet Ruger No.3 to an English sporter profile (lots of wood to work with on those factory carbine stocks) and had Ron Smith bore and chamber it to 25-35 Winchester. It's now one of my favourite rifles.
I might have to shorten the lever on mine as you have done with yours.

That's funny, I have another #3 that I slimmed the wood down on that's getting rebarreled to 25/35 Improved right now.

Oww many 200’s?

Looks stunning
At current EE prices? About 4 ;)

I love that in this day of polymer everything, and there is a place for it, and ultra high performance cartridges, also a time and place, that someone would go so far out of their way at great expense to make a piece of art in a 140 year old cartridge because it makes them happy. That’s awesome. Good job, it’s beautiful.

Beautiful rifle, Cory. Very tastefully done. That will be a pleasure to hunt with... post a picture of it posed over a big 12 pointer.
