Was out driving around for a bit last week. Shared a Pepsi with my wife, and a bit later stopped to do a bit of shooting at a gravel pit just for fun.

Took one shot each out my two old Husqvarnas, a 300 Win Mag and and even older 358 Norma Mag.

The first shot with the 300

Turned the can ninety degrees and took one shot with the 358.

Both shots were at 175 paces. Sometimes things just work out right. :)

Now, where is that bear? ;)

Nice shooting!

I was wondering where you'd find places to just pull over and shoot and then I saw where you're from.

I wish we could do that in southern Ontario.

Any pictures of the rifles?

Do you think the .358 will be enough for a bear? Those Yukon bears are tough. And mean. :)

What loads are you using with your .300 Win Mag? I have been very happy with H1000 and 220gr Nosler Partition semi-spitzers.

Good job , call pepsidermist and hang it on the wall to save the planet earth and I use H4831 75 gr exactely for 165 gr ballistic tips

Norma 204, magnum primers, and the 180 gr Win Power Point. It gives 3100+ fps out of the factory 24" barrel, shoots the same POI as the Nosler Partition, and kills just as well.

I bet it does, after all they haven't gotten any tougher over the last 50 years, have they? The moose and bears I mean!

I have some vintage bullets in my reloading kit but I am not sure I want to load them up as they are full boxes and I am a sucker for collecting things. I have a full box of 300 gr Silvertips in .375", two full boxes of Herters .311" 180gr semi-spitzers, a full box of Dominion 175gr 7mm soft points and a bag of what appears to be Dominion KKSP in 170gr for the good old 30-30!

Ted, is the 358 a Schultz and Larson?
And 1899, I have some Herters 130 grain 270s, some 70 gr. HP, 6mm and a new can of Herters 100 powder and a Herters crow call.
Also have some boxes of 50, Dominion, in 100 grain 270.
Most people don't know that Fred Barnes started making bullets about 1947. The first ones were made with regular copper tubing for the jackets. I have about eight of these in 200 grain, 30 calibre. actually, a tremendous bullet, with the heavy copper jacket.

hey TOScout!

If you've got a couple of classy Husky's (and a couple extra rounds...) you can pop by anytime!
less than an hour north Of Kingston/Belleville...
I do miss the North for more than just shooting...Iqaluit for 10+ years been back for 4 years but, it only feels like 4 seconds!
