Hi guy,

Just moved to Okotoks. I found 2 places within an hour drive so far:
Okotoks Rifle and Pistol Club
Calgary & District Target Shooter’s Association

I would love to join a club that holds PRS and Long Range practice and competitions near me. Ideally the range would allow me to turn up whenever I want without a long winded booking process. Relatively novice shooter. I shoot .22, .223 and .308.

Would also travel to competitions within 3 or so hours of me.

All suggestions welcome.

p.s. I would also be interested in some precision rifle courses. I'm mostly interested in courses aimed at LE but would look at anything.

Check out the Alberta Fullbore Rifle Association and the Rosebud Benchrest and Silhouette clubs. Both are within an hour or so drive. AFRA has organized practices on Friday mornings and relaxed matches twice a month all summer long.
 
Definitely try to get into CDTSA, they hold PRS matches every year.
Callsign 66 is who I would recommend for precision rifle courses

SAPRL is hosting a match this year also WRAS in edmonton is doing some PRS matches as well this year.

There are a lot of PRS matches in Alberta, most have been cancelled due to Covid. CDTSA is probably the cheapest and closest to you to try the sport but for next year, you don't need to be a member to shoot the match.
Bring out the 308 just make sure its doped to 300-400-500m and you can definitely borrow everything else you need like bags, tripods, etc.
 
Lethbridge Fish and Game range does some competition but I'm not sure what exactly. It's been a few years since I've been there.

Okotoks Rifle and Pistol club is indoor 25yrd and lower velocity stuff. Pretty limited hours as it's volunteer run.
