Giving my son his first gun, a stainless synthetic 10/22. Trying to find a decent optic for it under $300.
Am hoping to find one with a 30mm tube and an illuminated reticle, it'll be used solely for plinking and shooting partridge in dense brush.
Searched a few sponsor retailer's websites already, not having much luck. Am hoping to find a 1-4 or 2-7 or thereabouts.
If anyone knows of one that fills these boots, please let me know.

Thanks,

Aaron

Hey Aaron - Can't help with any options inside your budget, sorry. Do you need base/rings/covers included at this price? It all adds up...

Are you sure you want 30mm and illuminated? If you go 1" and standard reticle you'll have lots of options, some with pretty good glass for the price.

I think you will be really limited looking for a 30mm scope under $300. If you can live with a 1" tube you should consider the Athlon Neos or Talos lines of scopes. They have 1" tubes, a little higher magnification than you are looking for but they do have some with illuminated reticles if that is a must have, and will be under $300. As far as I know they also have a lifetime warranty.

Vortex Crossfire line has a couple with illuminated reticules as well. Also 1" tubes.

Whatever you decide on I'm sure your son will be thrilled.

If you step outside of the listed requirements, a Simmons .22Mag 4X32 is an inexpensive but excellent choice for a rimfire.

I've had good luck with the simmons 22mag scope and the bushnell rimfire (although i'm not sure if they still make the rimfire with the new bushnell lines). Both were 3-9 though, i don't remember if i saw any 2-7's or 1-4.

I do see that Tasco has a 2-7x32 rimfire model. It's not illuminated and tasco isn't my choise for a centerfire, but on a rimfire it should be ok.

Hey 'Nuge' (grew up near Motown) - I'm guessing you want the IL-Ret for shooting in brush where a standard reticle could get lost. The Athlon Talos series that Wolverine sells (as AB said) might fit the bill except for the 30mm tube. Since it's for a .22 I'd avoid BDC reticles, they just don't give the accuracy you want for a .22 IMO. http s://www.wolverinesupplies.com/Products/optics/scopes-and-red-dot-sights#?sortValue=2&currentPage=2

Here's one on the EE, not 30mm but meets the rest of your wants... comes with rings and buddy is asking $250 shipped OBO
It's from their AR line but set up for .22lr ballistics on the drop points and looks like it has a side mounted adjustable objective

The bushnell 2-7 with the .22lr ballistic drop is excellent. My daughter hit a rabbit at 120 yards with her savage rascal. This scope really helped her learn the basics like bullet drop and target lead.

I think we have a winner with this one. Going to check it out in store this weekend and see it in person.

Thanks for all the suggestions.
