I'm running batch after batch of brass through the wet tumbler, my 3yo decided to help me out and tossed in some loaded ammo which I didn't notice. They came out nice and clean and I can still hear the powder inside. While I don't plan on shooting it anytime soon, has anyone else done this faux pas before and had it be no big deal?

Also if I could be spared the dozen "just in case" posts that would be splendid thanks. ;)

I've heard of one guy who deliberately cleans his reloads after putting them together because he wants the shiniest of shiny ammo.

I gotta ask how your 3 yr old was playing with live ammo and you didn't notice!!!!!!f:P:

Thanks judgemental perfect father! I'll take that under advisement.
Answer being I had live rounds in my range bag with the brass, dumped in with 2 large cabelas boxes of other brass. He saw me filling the lyman tub and wanted to help. But I'm sure your kids never got a hold of something they shouldn't have. ;)
It's like 8 rounds out of about thousands of brass. FYI.

Should I tell you about the time he wanted cheese when he woke up, so next thing I knew he was walking in my bedroom door with a block of mozzarella and a steak knife? Or is that too far over the line?

To everyone else thank you kindly for your responses and taking the time not to be douchy about it! You're good people.

I had my dog eat a reloaded 9mm a couple years ago, noticed a glint from the sun in her leavings... washed it off, it went bang also. Was an interesting experiment. I'd try it, but maybe make sure you bring a squib rod with you?

I haven't wet tumbled ammo - not for lack of OCD desire, mind you - but I did drop a .44 Mag load at the bench in the late fall, right into a puddle of water. That puddle froze and thawed a few times over the winter and eventually dried up a few weeks ago. Found the cartridge. Cleaned it off. Shot it. Went bang just like it should have. Was outside and submerged for the better part of four months.

Sorry, I meat to say running dry SS media in a rotary.

Don't think it would work very well. Cases/ammos would mostly hit each other, and dry media would be more like solid particles in the air. You would have a better result placing whatever you want to clean in a loose bag with the dry media and shaking it.
