soot on fired brass

Hi: Loaded some rounds for my friend and he got a little bit of black powder residue on the necks both on 270 win and 338 win mag. primers looked fine easy extraction so any ideas

just stick them in the tumbler fro a couple of hours and they'll be fine

Typical of mild loads - nothing to be concerned about.

Normal. As long as its not going past the neck and down the shoulder, it's a perfectly normal round. Too much soot (down the shoulder, for example) may be an indication of low pressure

it could also be case lube residue.... i get it all the time with Lee lube.
