Why are you asking so many questions? What are you trying to get out of?

/hands fed007 a tin-foil hat.

That's some impressive reasearch going into those items, good to see competent people equpping our guys.

holy crap! the wind blew off my foil hat and those mind control rays from the liberal satellites got me..

I got to reading that document. It just seemed bizarre to me - seemed like a presentation of sorts. Whats the purpose, thats all I was asking? I don't necessairly care what KB does - unless he defends our freedoms then hell yeah - keep up the good work solldier!

oh well I am going to have a beer and try to forget that goal against the Oilers.

It is a presentation from a Navy program manager for the navy's SF M4's (which i would say is anyone in the navy who carries an M4;) ) Funny how it reco's what kit to buy but only when "funding" permits. The round counter is a neat idea.:)

this kind of end the aimpoint VS Eotec thing

Not really. It's a Government contract. It's well known that for right or wrong, Knight's and A.R.M.S. have a lot of friends in Washington, and it's the people who are rewarding the contracts who decide what the troops get. At least they are allowing input from SOCOM.

I'll wait and see with the Eotech 553. I'm not saying it's not a good piece of equipment, just unproven. Eotech seems to have finally gotten it's act together with Rev F. It's pretty hard to argue with the record that Aimpoint has amassed.

As for throw levers, the contracts have been decided way above the level of the troops, and has stipulated A.R.M.S. throw levers. I have not been impressed with anything I've owned from A.R.M.S., and won't be spending any more of my money on any of their products. They are often regarded as being very poor quality, MIM (Metal Injected Molding) technology by people with a lot more experience with these products than I. I suspect it's yet another case of the end user being told what he needs, not the other way around. Now if Eotech had of been permitted to go with a Larue mount, that would be an impressive unit.

I won't be in any hurry to trade in my Aimpoint ML3 - but if Larue somehow figures out how to refit the 553 with their mounts, I might just have to get one.

Crane does the Small Arms for US SOCOM. It is not a NAVY thing at all.

KAC and ARMS lobbyists have no input - the downselect is down by the operators.

DELTA drove the specs for the EOTECH 553 BTW. LARUE does have a 553 replacement setup BTW.

Keep in mind the US mil is badly underfunded in certain areas (small arms) and USSOC is not overflowing with funding in this are since they are at war and are busy replacing parts that get worn out rapidly in conflicts...

I posted it simply as FYI -- I thought peopl ehere may find it interesting.

P.S. Gus Taylor is a former SF Col - he had the first team in Iraq during the 91 dustup. He don't take #### off no one and he has the operator at heart - not the manufacturer.

Its not replacing the ACOG -- both the ACOG - in TA31DOC format and the ELCAN -DOC variant are still in trial.

Apparenlty the Specter DR bombed with the trial troops and had to be fixed with a Dr Optic (okay so a red dot with a red dot...)

IMHO the TA31DOC is going to win since the ZERO issue with the ELCAN still has no been fixed.
