Before anyone chimes in that suppressors are prohib, please let me remind you that this is for my AR in the states. Apprently I can hunt with one day or night in my state, which would be fine but I want one just to have one and shooting without hearing protection would be sweet.

I hope some of you guys can help answer this question. OK so my dealer got their order in and they are going to sell 2 companies. AWC who I've never heard of and surefire. Im leaning toward the surefire since they claim, high endurance, good sound suppression, better accurancy, well balanced and the surefire has a quick detach mech so I can take it off and put it on as much as possible.

AWC I have no clue about, but the dealer said AWC is all about silcence and high endurance. Opinions?

I have to wait until saturday to fill out the paperwork, then I have to wait 2 weeks to 3 months to see if I get approval, cant see why I shouldn't get approved, then spend the money, woot! I handled a beretta 92 that was suppressed and its really front heavy, way more than I thought it would have been, same with an AR they had setup. The owner and his son are going to give me a call to goto the indoor range to try out the beretta.

Keep in mind the owner of Silencer Tests is in bed with a suppressor manufacturer...

Plus metered sounding is not always what the human hearing will detect.

I'd recommend OPSINC, GemTech, KAC, and Surefire.

ARF.com and M4Carbine.net have some decent NFA stuff on cans

There are quite a few Depts in the US that supply AWC suppressors on their duty firearms. Ie. Nebraska has 40S&W, MP5s in every trunk with AWC cans as part of the package. Or at least they did a couple years ago.

AWC is good stuff.

As mentioned by KB, the others are quality kit too.

I've used AWC products, as well as a couple others, AWC was better (quieter) and had less first round pop.

Good customer service from AWC as well.

Cheers,green with envy,

Ben

Bump... well im in torn.... the AWC suppressors are in and I can fill out the papers and get one, but im leaning towards the Surefires but they wont be in until end of feb. So do I wait for feb or buy an AWC? I think I'll wait for the surefires.

Uhm whch does him NO GOOD - since you cannot import non US made suppressor for non LE /MIL /Govt usage
Actually I think that they are US made, I only knew where the website was for the UK distributor/importer was!

Quite right Finnish manufacturors! I'm sure there must be US importers!
even if there arent whats to stop him bringing it in himself? Its only a tube until its fitted in the same way that a rifled blank isnt part of a firearm until it has been chambered?
I cant see the logic in that as a ruling, now why such protectionism? That would surely merit a slap on the wrists from the world trade people. If they can tax imports of tweed cloth then get their wrists slapped under treaty how can they ban import of metal tubes?
Only in good old USA.

in the states, every part of the supressor is considered 'the' supressor.

if you import a washer for a supressor, you get in big ####. just like if you imported the whole thing. i'm guessing the whole tube would be the same.

The answer for the Yanks is either buy locally or through an approved LE importer? Why not make their own? If they do the legal thing right surely making them cant be that difficult?
