I have a nice Springfield Garand. The receiver is dated 1944. The barrel is pitted, still shoots but I would like to replace it.

Any good sources for me ???

Thanks !

Marstar lists Breda barrels, but they're sold out. Wouldn't hurt to ask if they'll be getting more. Gunparts also lists them, but you'll be looking at the U.S. export permit. Epp's isn't listing any but they may have one. You may want to try at Western Gun Parts too.

Frankly I don't really care about the month as some of the other parts don't match.

This puppy will still be used for shooting not a wall hanger !

But if i could get my hands on a clean 1944 barrel, I would be a happy camper.

Thanks !

Well, it's a shooter not a collector, so why not get a new commercial bbl from Citadel, etc?
Probably cheaper than a 1944 USGI bbl as well; but you're getting better quality.
