Would anyone know if any barrel manufacturers who cut chambers offer sporter/commercial rifle barrels in 6.5x50 Japanese (Arisaka)?

Guessing besides the PTG reamers for $200+ US (and tarrifs) the reamers are unobtainium?

Thanks and yes I know how bizarre this is haha

Never heard of such barrels being made. Not impossible that someone might have a reamer and could chamber a custom barrel. But most likely a reamer would have to be purchased. Reamer, plus gauges, plus barrel, plus 'smithing time would make this a very expensive project.

It certainly would!

I'm going to go with literally nobody. You're likely going to have to buy that reamer and have your smith do the work. There is zero reason for anyone to make a chambered barrel in 6.5 Japanese without a customer having paid in full first.

I have a Type 1 barrel, with a bit of wear but not pitted or frosty, but it was made in Italy on the Carcano action for the Japanese, and chambered for the 6.5x50. It's not interchangeable with the Arisaka because of different threads, and different breaching design.

Gotcha!

I've been thinking about building a rifle on a modern sporting rifle action

This barrel wouldn't be appropriate for such a purpose, even though it has a very slender profile and taper.

You need to be careful with some Arisaka barrels, many of them are over size and require the use of the Hornady .268 diameter bullets to shoot well.

The 6.5 Creedmore and 6.5 Japanese are basically kissing cousins as far as case capacity goes.

I fully understand the "nostalgic" appeal though.

Were you the one who bought the Type 1 rifle at Chilliwack?
