You need:
Firing pin
Firing-pin Spring (Mainspring)
Cocking piece
Bolt Plug (also called Bolt Sleeve)
Catch (also called LOCK) for Bolt Plug (Sleeve)
Spring for Bolt Plug/Sleeve Catch/Lock
Safety
Trade-Ex lists all of that but it is hard to find. Go to their Main Page, click PARTS, click MAUSER PARTS and you are there.
Prices on anything 98 seem to be horrific these days. This will give you an idea at least.
Nice thing is that Trade-Ex ships FAST and they are HONEST to a fault: you generally get better than what they describe or you pay for.
Can't do much better'n that.
I need a WRECKED Firing-pin for a 98 Mauser. Just TRY finding that on the EE!
That's serious: a friend gives lectures in Schools but they don't want "live" firearms, only Dewats. If I can find a buggered firing-pin, I can loan him my Gew 98 simply by grinding the tip and installing the thing: no need to destroy a 99-year-old rifle with a good bore.
BTW, bolts and bolt parts interchange between Gew 98 and Kar 98, all versions of original German equipment including Kar 98b and Kar 98aZ. VZ-24 parts also will fit. Where you run into trouble sometimes is trying to fit parts made for Contract rifles such as a Turk 1903: NOTHING fits except the Safety. Why? Different LENGTH of action!
