If anyone knows of a source / LGS / vendor for a PTG oversized bolt body for a savage 10 TR S/A in 308 and can share it would be greatly appreciated.

Nothing found in Alberta so far.

I need to tighten up a very sloppy action that binds and is no good for quick follow up shots and don’t want to shim the bolt.

Many thanks in advance.

Unless things have changed in the last 12 months, you can order directly from PTG. I bought a reamer and a savage bolt lift kit from them last summer and it came right to my door. It took almost 10 weeks, but it came.

is the bolt body itself binding or the horse collar mounted on the rear of the bolt engaging with the receiver when you stroke the action? i had one that would do this, felt like the whole bolt was binding up, so polished off some material and no other alterations required. smooth straight bolt pull now and the rifle shoots like it should.

The bolt body is loose when cycling as there is a lot of up and down movement (approx 1/2 cm of play) at the rear of the bolt when it is cycled back and it binds unless you cycle it very slowly and deliberately. It is a 10 TR. The problem has to be that the raceways are oversized.

I haven't measured them yet or compared the bolt and action to the other 10TR I have but that other 10TR action is very slick and that bolt cycles straight back with barely any perceptible up and down movement. It is slicker than my remington 700’s.

Will be contacting PTG to see if they still ship to Kanada.

I know they ship chamber reamers to canada. Ive bought a 460 weatherby and a 500 jeffery reamer on the last year. 40$ usd shipping on top of the order and 40$ CAN. fee at post office for customs.

PTG deals direct with Canadians. I had to fill out paperwork for an export permit for a savage DBM kit.. Took an extra 10 min and the ### responded professionally within one day for their part. I would deal direct the next time I have business with PTG. Great folks.
