Source for Remington 700 Action

I'd like to build a 300 Whisper and I'm looking for a (preferably) new Rem 700 action to build it on. Anyone know where I can pick one up?

Since I'm on the subject, anyone know a gunsmith in MB that can chamber and mount the barrel?

Buy a Remington 700 SPS ($5-600)and throw the rest of the bits away or sell them in EE

Also, if you are still barrel shopping, I would suggest you try one of Mick McPhee's (A Canadian) 30 cal barrels. He specializes in 30 cal and they're as good as they get.

Exactly my thoughts. Buy and SPS, or a stainless one if that's what you're looking for, and flog the barrel, stock, trigger group and whatever else you don't want on the EE.

I think you'd be into that action for only a few hundred all said and done.

HWMNBN in Calgary would be my choice. He can source an action for you or you could go buy a SPS and sell the bits and pieces off in the Exchange. Or go with a custom action like a Barnard or even a Nesika.

No one said you'd get much return, but you'll get a bit. Stock should be easy to get rid of, maybe even the barrel. There's a buyer out there for everything.

If you buy an SPS, go with something like 7mm-08 or .22-250, you'll move those barrels a lot faster than you're run of the mill .308 or .243
