Does anyone have a source for Winchester type butt plate screws? That isn't in the US (homestead) or charges $40 to ship (gunparts corp).

They don't actually need to be copies/reproductions, just close enough looking.

(I make brass butt plates - need screws)

Try Lee Valley Tools. You may want to order their Hardware catalog.

If you have any Boat shops or Chandler's in your area, esp if they deal in supplies to keep old boats going, or restoring old boats, they should be able to sell you large size Brass or Bronze screws as well.

I bought a Treebone plate with an order from Brownells.

Wasn't really impressed with it.

Put about 5 hours into trying to clean up the checkering on it (which sure as heck wasn't anywhere as sharp or even as the ones shown there) and finally was so disgusted with the whole thing I filed it all off smooth. Bought a used Winchester original at a show for not a heck of a lot more than the rough cast one cost.

I'd say that the screws might need some work, or they might not, depending on where they sourced them.

McMaster Carr has oval head slotted screws, but stainless (I found another source but stainless as well)
Western has a minimum $40 shipping - I tried to order a bolt from them once.... if they had 'replacement' screws, they are gonna be $3/4 each.
couldn't find anything on gunco - other than it looks like an individual guy.
Lee valley had stainless and brass that may have worked, but stainless will look ridiculous ...

crap - I might have to but a bunch from this guy :(
