Source for SIG AR type lower

The Sig USA 556 lowers have been imported in the past and are available from a few US dealers. I have heard that they will not work correctly with some AR mags in conjunction with our SAN uppers. Some people have had to modify their very expensive Swiss made upper in order to ensure proper seating and feeding of AR style mags. These lowers go for around $1k up in these parts.

There is also the real SAN AR style lower from the SG553-US rifle. It is the best option in my opinion. Available from TSE for $1900 CAD and has a 4-6 month ordering time! I'm gonna eventually take the plunge and get one and when I do, I'll post a review.

Doesn't the upper of a Swiss Arms require modification to properly feed from a Sig lower with anything besides PMags? Not something I'd want to do to a SAN, however AR mags and folding stock are appealing. For those few that have done this please feel free to weigh in.

TSE is supposed to be bringing in the SAN US lower that takes AR mags and has a folding stock. Won't likely be cheap and possibly later this year to next year. I just hope they bring them in as full rifles as an option as well as lowers. Check it out here.

Thanks for all the replies. The 553 lower would suit me best. My Swiss is a long term project. I am gathering parts for a .300 Blackout.

What is the availability of these lowers? The 2011 catalogue says they would be available by the summer.

I like the idea of a real Swiss made lower that can take AR mags and still maintains the folding stock.

Do these come in non-restricted because I only have a pal. No restricted licence yet as I am still wait for my paper work to come in.

Not at that CQB length they don't, the one in that pic is a restricted. However put a Classic Green or Black upper on that super ###y lower and you have a non-restricted SAN with AR mags and a folder.
