So I'm in need of approx 25-30 .30cal ammo cans. I'd planned to buy them at Canada Ammo but they're no longer selling .30 cal cans alone.

I've checked Princess Auto here and they're often in rough shape. Peavey Mart usually only has .50cal cans. Canadian Tire is overpriced.

Does anyone know of a source for good condition surplus .30 cal cans or new .30 cal cans that are fairly priced? I'll need to order online since my local options aren't viable at this time.

Thanks all

With a bigg'un order like that, I'd go pester the manager at CT for a discount.
Never know what the answer will be less'in yew askith.

The local CT had 95 boxes of .22lr federal blue box "525 value pack", I asked how much I have to buy to get a discount as these boxes never go on sale. She said you could buy all 95 and still not get a discount... Apparently somethings they cannot alter the price just cause.

Keep an eye on cabelas. These show up the odd time at a really good price. But they sell out fast. Last summer they had metal ammo cans for about $12-$15.

Sebarms in Edmonton has them. I was just in there on Thursday. If I recall correctly, and at my age that is frequently out, they were priced at $17 per. But I didn't pick any up and look at them because I wasn't buying any so no idea the condition. They have a web site, you might be able to contact them and order them shipped?? I dunno...

I grabbed all the nice ones at my local PA, pre-sale with flyer ( Or you can buy them at normal price now and get the refund on Tuesday.)

Overall condition ain't too bad, a lot have water damage corrosion in the form of rust, some of it may be surface, but quite a few were pitted at the bottom, so thoroughly check before buying.

The ones I got were just dirty from being slung around in muddy conditions, but a quick wipe down and some light oil brought them back to factory new.

If you can find the good ones, $10 is a steal right now for ex Lake City ammo cans. Most are dated 2010-2016, so they're new, and actually go with the headstamp of my XM80 federal America eagle rounds. Pretty nice!

What PA store in Toronto has them?

The one in Markham was the closest to me when I go to pick up ammo at a site sponsor, they have a few good ones left, but I usually go to the one at 401 and McCowan, they usually carry the most amount because their store is always packed, but ymmv there.

Log on the the Princess website and select your favourite store location. FWIW, my nearest store has metal .50cal cans for $15 and .30cal cans for $17.50. There is a third offering of metal .50cal cans for $37.50 which I think is a default old value.

There is enough interest in these cans now that a company in Edmonton is selling new cans (maybe made in China) more competitively priced than rusty surplus cans.

Given a chance, I buy the Fat Fifty cans for storing "stuff" because they are just a bit bigger without getting massively overloaded.

The same place where CanAm gets their cans from yeah? Those are definitely new ones made in China. I dare say the fit and finish is on par or a bit better than the US made ones, bit they lack markings and character.

I'd much rather support PA buying cans as scrap from the US Army than anyone that deals with the Chinese army or some sweat shop turning the new ones out, that's just me...
