I figure this is perhaps the best forum for this post. If not, I'm guessing it will get moved.

I'm looking to get a stronger striker spring for my RC K98. Any Canadian (Albertan) dealers that carry them, or do I need to go straight to Wolff.

Also curious about how others have found their experiences with the uprated springs. Primary purpose is to improve frequency of first strike success with older milsurp ammo. Is going with the 22lb spring enough?

Lastly, if I go to Wolff, they've got a minimum order. If others want to piggyback on my order we can split the various shipping/handling charges.

I bought my Wolff springs for my Radom and M14 from Brownells. Can't remember if there was a minimum order but I wait until I have a large order so the shipping charges are worth it.

Wolff will sell the springs to you no problem. They do have a minimum order limit of $25 plus shipping and handling though.

Wolff or Brownells will ship to you. For a Canadian source I'd check with Epps. I think I've bought Wolff springs from them before.

As far as spring weight goes, I personally use the 22lb springs in my hunting rifles. The Mauser action has a large heavy firing pin that hits with serious force to begin with. I believe factory spec on the springs originally produced was around 19lbs. I have no experience with milsurp ammo in my Mausers though, so can't comment on that.

Have you had many bad strikes? What surplus ammo are you shooting?

I've tried a few different flavours of 'surp ammo in my VZ24, and some of those just wouldn't touch off on the first trigger pull.(Will double check which) They have all gone on the second. N'er happened with commercial ammo.

If you think your spring is weak, you can hyper extend it and re-install to see if it improves your "bang" rate before buying anything.
