i am looking for a stock and hardware to bring back a sporter no4 mk1, the butt stock is good, i just need the forestock, handguards and metal bits, if someone could point me in the right direction that would be great.

thanks
matt

Springfield Sporters in the US is one source. Decent prices but sometimes, hard to get in touch with these guys.

TradeEx usually have a few parts, so I prefer to start with them; Canadian folks, and great to do business with (not to mention CGN sponsors!).

wow, $175 EACH, without metal?! that's criminal. Those same sets were 3 for $120 a while ago from Sarco. The U.S. has seen a recent influx of No.4 wood from pakistan, both walnut and beech. I bought a bunch, refurbed a few rifles, and sold the rest. Kinda wish I'd kept more...

I have Ishapore wood on my Long Branch No.4 that I brought back from a sporter but have a line on real Long Branch wood for it so there might be some Ishapore No.4 wood on the EE for an actual fair price in the future.

"...that's criminal..." None made for 50 plus years.
"...a sporter No. 4 Mk 1..." Still have the whole barrel? How's the headspace? No point hunting down stock bits if the barrel has been cut or the headspace is bad.
Epp's is listing a walnut front hand guard for $15. Gunparts is listing all the stock parts. Under 'SMLE' for some reason. Re-building any bubba'd rifle can be an expensive proposition.

WE JUST bought out a very large storage depot in Europe, will have all kinds of SMLE parts (new) for sale early in the new year....

John, if the price is right, you can bet I'll stock up. I always prefer to buy from a Canadian supplier! Anything in particular I should do so I won't miss the "debut" date?
