Noob hunter looking for some tips about the area just west of Wiarton. I'm slowly gettig myself and my family involved in hunting but i'm stuggling with where to start etc.

There are some really dense wooded areas there where I could potentially gain access, and I'm curious about the following game specifically: Deer, Turkey, Duck. I'm looking around Sky/Boat/Isaac lakes and the wooded area up towards Sky Lake management area.

Thanks for any and all info! Feel free to PM me. :)

A large portion of the Bruce is classified as national park. Not sure exactly sure of the boundries. Used to have a cottage on pinetree harbour, huron side from there to the tip is park for sure. Sorry not sure if that is much help for you.

Thanks.

Looking a bit further south in the conservation mangement areas just West of Wiarton. From what I've read, most allow hunting 'as per provincial regulations'

You are looking to hunt right in my yard practically. There is plenty of conservation areas, county forests etc to hunt on. Good luck with finding a spot 10 other guys aren't already hunting. That's the only downfall to the "public" lands, they are every year becoming more over crowded. Myself, I rarely hunt these properties, simply because of the overcrowding. You shouldn't be too bad for Turkey and Duck hunting, but Deer hunting is becoming a joke in these areas for locals. Way too many people all "claiming" the same areas to hunt.
Tips for you are, don't be lazy, these properties can be good productive hunting areas, even for deer. If you put in the effort and go further into the bush than the average hunter. Most only venture a few 100 yards off a road, and the ones that do go further take ATV's. Which I wish was more enforced, but they are illegal to use on County Forest / Conservation areas. Lots of turkeys in the areas you are talking about, and surprisingly there doesn't seem to be many turkey hunters around, and the same tips, get off the roads and into the bush, so many guys drive around "road" hunting.
As for duck hunting, it's something I wish I had more time for, but don't get out much. I fish a lot on Boat and Isaac lakes, and see a lot of ducks. The problem with the lakes, is good areas to hunt are hard to access from land. I have good intentions every year of paddling out to hunt ducks, but doesn't happen.

The deer hunting is very poor.

I wouldn't say the deer hunting is poor. It's not as good as some spots in Ontario, but is far from poor. Last year, full moon fell on Rifle Season and Back powder, making the worst conditions for hunting, deer never move much in daylight in full moons.
I haven't actively hunted much in this immediate area over the last few years, but almost every time I have hunted I see deer, and most times have opportunities to take a deer. I save my tag for Manitoulin, so rarely shoot anything here.

Hey jay I see you are from niagra area why drive all that way to hunt duck, turkey and deer there Are lots of opportunities much closer check out longpoint region.

Thanks. I am scouring maps locally, and I've found quite a few Conservation areas within a short drive that offer opportunites for Waterfowl. I will check out the Longpoint region for Turkey etc.
