"Since we started producing these rifles, we have been aware of the laws concerning the conversion of semi automatic weapons to Section 1 UK legal firearms, we have therefor either made our own major component (the lower receiver) or in the early days contracted an American company to do that for us and register the serial nos with the US BATF as single shot only at manufacture. The serial nos of lower receivers purchased from the US without that specific registration are listed by the BATF as semi automatic or fully automatic rifles ( in the USA the lower is the rifle ) the implication is clear. Should you decide to purchase from another source your rifle, for your own security, ensure that this has been done."

are the receivers the same as the semi auto ones? If so the whole thing is a waste of time. Because our laws will consider it still an AR-15. So you will end up with a restricted bolt action... Hopefully i am wrong.

Yes. These would be restricted in Canada as essentially all they are is an AR with no gas system. We have made some manually operated ARs for the UK market.

Both the Southern Gun Company and the Lantac straight pull AR-15 rifles have been in production across the pond for a few years now. There's a handful of other small manufactures over there building similar rifles. There's nothing new to be seen here.

What has been made to circumvent laws in another country has no relevance to the laws in this one. They may get away with using a standard ar-15 lower receiver just because the manufacturer called it "single shot only" but in our country the law of "if the shoe still fits" applies.

These rifles are an interesting concept however due to our laws I see them as a pointless investment.

Also as Rick pointed out in the thread about the Lantac rifle there are shortcomings in the system when it comes to primary extraction. If you've ever ran a gas gun with the gas shut off completely you would be aware that things can get a little sticky. They weren't designed to run this way. It will work but it's not as easy going. There is a reason these rifles have a large heavily built bolt handle.

Also I've never seen a substantial increase in accuracy by shutting the gas off and cycling the action manually on any rifle I've tried it on. Accuracy gains have been miniscule at best.

In my opinion if you want a manually operated rifle you are better served with a good bolt action rifle.
