OK southpaws, both my boys are left handed. I'm making up a short list of mods to make thier 1911 fit them better.

I've always liked the wide gas pedal style safety, but usually had to trim and contour the right hand side pedal to avoid tripping it with my index finger.

I was thinking about doing the same for thiers, in reverse.

Suggestions?

Question ?
are you or the Boys a High Thumb or a Low thumb

Or get a Stainless Model and start Trimming with the dremil --

Trimming off any "Ouch" points

That was my second concern. At 9 1/2, they still have smallish hands. I'm thinking I may have to go with relatively thin low profile safeties as running high thumb may not be viable.

I like the Ed Brown Tactical safeties, I find they are closest to how I trim them anyways, I usually just end up blending them a bit to make them more comfortable.
