Just back from France:wave: and I brought back a few souvenirs this time again. Lucky for me I was able to use some space in the kids and the wife's luggages! Those brass shells are pretty heavy! I was able to bring back a few 75mm shells, the famous 75mm french field gun:cool: that made the difference so many times during ww1. Its was to the french in WW1 what the 88mm gun was to the german in ww2. I also brought back some 77mm german field gun shells. Also I found a few awesome exemples of trench art (75mm, 77mm and 37mm shell worked beautifully into vases). I also brought back a very very interesting piece of trench art, a pitcher made from a 18 pounds british shell. Its identified and very well worked. I put some pictures of it so you'llbe able to see what I mean. There's 2 dates (1915-1916) a british crest (beleive its the ASC army service corps) and 3 flags (french in the center, belgium on the right and what maybe the old canadian flag on the left?) . :canadaFlag:there's also the name of a place in Belgium carved toward the bottom ''Hooge'' where canadian forces where actually deployed at the time. Pretty awesome find! I'd like your opinion about it, is it a canadian flag on the pitcher? I beleive that if it was a british flag they would have use the regular union jack, this one on the pitcher really look like the old ''red ensign''. The bugles are pretty cool too. One is a cavalry trumpet and the other is an infantry bugle. Both are ww1 area and identified as military instruments. I know that they were use pretty widely on the french side instead of whistle like the British used. I also been able to bring back an adrian helmet and a few post ww1 kepis (intantry, marines infantry, cavalry, legion, and artillery). I also brought back 2 25mm WW2 US shell and one little ww2 german aa solothurn shell. Souvenir hunting in the old continent is so much fun. I'm gonna put some on sale on the EE tomorrow because beleive it or not the wife thinks I bought too many! :rey2
