I have what I believe is a Soviet SKS with Russian letters on various parts of the gun. It has a laminated stock, blade bayonet and a star on the left side of the receiver. All numbers match and the barrel is like new.
I am positive it is Russian but not sure what factory it was manufactured.
Where would one look for a date on an SKS?

You should get decent coin for it if you decide to sell as it is one of the few that has not been refurbished...

true, a collector will pay more for a non-refurb but unfortunately there is a shipment of cheap russian will be arriving soon . it will be interesting to see if any of us will be lucky to end up with a gem .... a 1949 SKS45.:dancingbanana:

Nothing on the top cover. It has matching serial numbers on every main part.
I may part with it after I try it out. The triggher isn't as nice as my 7.62X39 Rasheid.

the reason i asked was the square with a diagonal line is a refurb stamp but its not always used .
