I just picked up a Baikal SXS 12 gauge coachgun, with external cocking levers that imitate the look of hammers. It came with four choke tubes (IC, Mod, Imp. Mod, Full) that fit flush with the muzzles, and the poorly translated note accompanying it seems to indicate that this is a factory job. The gunshop salesclerk that sold it to me said that it is threaded for Colonial Tru-chokes, but the tubes have no markings on them to indicate this.

I was hoping to find some tight turkey chokes for it, but don't want to order the Tru-choke versions sight unseen in case they don't fit. I would also like to get another ImpCyl tube and try it with slugs. Experimenting with stick-on magnetic turkey sights seems to demonstrate that both barrels shoot pretty close to the same POI.

I know, I know...this will never be anything more than a cheap Russian shotgun. That's why I bought it, just a toy for a pet project that I've been thinking about for a while.

Does anyone know how I could confirm what make of tubes these are? Or, failing that, who in Ontario might carry Tru-chokes in stock? Any tips or information would be greatly appreciated.

John
