I'm sure I'm not the only one with projects on the kitchen table...mine is full of electronics, and a few gun projects too.

One of my project rifles has occupied too much space, for too much time. Today, thanks to a fellow CGN'er, it's now in the safe. Fully functional, and ready for fun.

The gem in question is a little deutsche werke erfurt I had hoped my young'un would be able to shoot. I was beginning to believe he would outgrow it before anyone could squeeze it's trigger. Now, it's good to go, and the weekend has a ray of joy to offer.

the gem

The new bolt installed

The old bolt. Terrible picture, but at the bottom of the handle it was rounded. I'm guessing some "folk smith" thought it could reduce trigger pull. It actually made it so the sear wouldn't engage at all. A very dangerous condition!

No girl explains it. I have the house to myself over the next week while wife and the kids are at Disneyland so I imagine the house will become repurposed during her vacay. Starting tonight, the kitchen becomes a full on brewery, I'm getting low on beer!

Seems like a lot of guys have or had one of those. The one I had was purchased for $1.00 many years ago from a farmer. Was his barn gun. It suffered from many ftf so I made up a new firing pin from a bit of car radio antenna, problem solved.
