spanish 1895 carbine 7x57

I kind of like the look of these,but heard some talk of them not being a strong action.What would they be like compared to a swede 96 ?How are they for accuracy-shooting etc?Is reloading adviseable-or is factory 7x57 ok to shoot?

I have an 1895 Chillean Mauser in 7x57 and mine is an exceptional shooter, been rebarreled with a Shillen in Stainless.The load my bud made for it is fairly snappy with 140gr Barnes TSX bullets. FS

I had a Spanish Short Mauser last year, things went well but I didn't shoot a lot with it and traded it.

Someone Bubbaed it, varnished the wood , cut the butt and lengthened it and drilled it, but it still has the full wood stock and muzzle cap

I had one, the firing pin was way too long, it punctured the primers. Best to check for that!

I had one in 7.62x51 CETME. The previous owner must have shot 7.62 NATO or .308 win out of it, because the chamber was out-of-round. In retrospect, I should have keep it and rebarelled in 6.5x55 with one of TradeEx's M38 Swed barrels.

Spanish 1895 Mauser Carbine

The Swede 96 actions are the best actions in that class. The 95s are OK but not as highly rated as Swedes. I have fired 95 conversions in 7.62 and full power ball ammo would make the bolt extremely hard to open. A reduced load would help the gun function easier.

I have two of the 1895 carbines in my collection but one needs a better stock. The FR-7s, 7.62 Mausers are manufactured from the 95 rifles and the FR-8's are manufactured from 98 actions. I have 5 of the 1895 short rifles in 7mm and 7.62 mm from various countries and 3 or 4 of the long rifles.
I am always looking for 7 X 57 rifles and have about 15 or 20 in my collection.
