Can anyone tell me if Arizaga made good quality side lock sxs. The one Iam looking at is 16ga. Any information or experience with these would be appreciated.

There are (were) at least 4 Spanish makers with the surname Arizaga. I'm sure that some of them made some good guns (and some not so good). The advice to "buy the gun, not the name" is especially true with European doubles.

Precisely!! Spanish makers in particular made shotguns that ranged from cheap crap to exquisite collectors pieces. As bluecanoed says, be sure to handle and examine the individual gun.

So true and even the maker's name is no guarantee. I once bought a sxs made by one of the "famous" names of Spain and it was an endless series of frustrating problems and trips to the gunsmith. That's not a criticism of all Spanish guns. My primary bird gun is a Spanish sxs and it's a great gun.

agreed. i've seen some very nice guns and seen smoe real junk.
