Spare part? :(

I disassembled my SKS to clean cosmoline off it. I put it together, ran through some dummy rounds - everything works fine.

Now after cleaning my workbench I found small spring

Does it belong to SKS and I forgot to re-install it somewhere?

I didn't take trigger group apart

edit. I mean I removed and cleaned trigger group as single unit.

It looks like the small spring on the back side of the trigger group.

Ummm I think there is a spring in the stock at the very rear of the trigger gaurd assembly and I think it's thre to keep some pressure... Doesn't look like mine but they may not be standard.
Could be a russian put it there 50 years ago to confuse a canadian sports shooter

That is not the trigger group spring from the stock. They are longer. That doesn't look like a spring from an SKS.

Agreed, the springs in the stocks are bigger, more robust.

yeah stock spring is in right place. I disassembled and put sks together again, checked action - everything seems working just fine. Hope it is false alarm. Thanks guys!

Yep its there, the small spring on the back side of the rod. The spring beside the quarter is not from your sks!!

Well now the question becomes what the hell did that spring come from!?

I wouldn't sweat it too much. I have a whole box of strange odds and ends that have randomly shown up.

For instance this spring. I haven't got the slightest idea what this came from.
