I saw the fulton armory list on necessary spare parts for an M14 and the it's a long list. My question is, what would be the spare parts one would really need in the field (match, hunting, and zombies). What is the most likely part to bust and replaced with regular use.

I also want to know, what is in your M14 repair kit and how do you pack it? I saw different's site and a photo of a roll out tool and parts kit. It looked pretty thorough but allot to carry.

i will have one full set of spare bolt parts and a bolt disassembly tool in my "field kit" as well as the issue combo tool, cleaning kit, bore patches, grease syringe, small flat blade screwdriver, broken case extractor, allen keys and...... lots of ammo ;)

add a spare gas plug ...
if they loosen up, they go flying quite a ways

Also nice to have would be a spare trigger pin, hammer pin, trigger spring, and trigger with sear.

After fighting with several too hrad/brittle/broken Norc roll pins, I am replacing most of my pins with drill rod, staked in place.

remember fulton's in the business to SELL PARTS- of course he's going to recommend everything ,including stuff that'll never break in a million years-
spare ( fitted) bolt, mainspring, gas plug and piston, maybe an oprod- rear sight ladder, and that's about it- i've had the ladder break in the field- that and the broken shell extractor- although i've never used one- spare combo tool and i carry 2 complete cleaning lits- one in the buttstock, one on my belt- the one in the buttstock is never used
