I seem to inherit the wierd ones. I just received a carcano rifle seems the bottom of the mag is missing, bubba did a job on the stock its missing the bottom of the magazine plate came with one stripper clip looks like its a 6mm of sorts. Now heres the wierd stuff no markings visible, but have not pulled the stock, and it has a double set trigger. What do I have here. I am computer promagna so cannot post a photo, send me an email and can send you photos. What is this creature?

when it stops leaking oil theres a problem

With the double set triggers, it sounds like one of the Cooey/Carcano/Eatons sporters from the early '30s. if you do a search for threads by Andy, you will find a long discussion of these rifles. It is probably 6.5x54MS, not 6.5x52MC.

You have what I believe is an Eatons sporterized carcano. I suggest you contact Andy. He's the resident expert on the Eatons carcano rifles.

Did someone say Eaton, Cooey and Carcano in the same post? ;) Got my Milsurp senses tingling, even though it's not really a Milsurp, but a commerically sporterized one.

E-mail me a pic and I'll post it for you. Sure sounds like that's what you've got.
