The 590 has a reputation for reliability. The finish of the SP Mariner might result in a slicker action, but not everyone likes shiny. If you think you'll like it, you probably won't be disappointed.

I have one and it is very reliable and eats everything I run through it. Makes for a good bush gun I am sure you won't be disappointed with it. Forget the pistol grip though, stick with the regular stock the pistol grip is useless IMHO.
