There has been a lot of discussion on the NEF H@R rifles However I would like to know about one in particular. This is the H@R laminated stock model with the bull barrel in .243.

What is the barrel twist ?
How accurate at 300 M
Is the accuracy significantly better than the standard barrel model ?

Are the new models still showing the problems of the older models ?
ejection problems and the action popping open.

I know these are no 1/2 moa rifles but all I want is to hammer a yote at 300M or less now and then and also a rifle to nail a deer with from the stand.
 
The .243 has a 1-10" twist. Mine is a couple years old now and for the price it is a great rifle. Pop opens will occur if I leave any oil at all on the locking surfaces. Not a problem if it is bone dry. As far as accuracy goes. With 58gr V-max's and 80gr Rem PSP's or Speers I won't tell you because you won't believe it. Depending on the load with 100gr Grand Slams it will range from 3" at the worst right down to MOA. My barrel seems to be quick and I reach speed numbers and pressure signs a few grains below what the manuals say.
 
Is there a simple fix to the extraction problem ? I've heard that a good chamber polish with flitz on a bore mop will fix them.

That said 243's come in 3 configs

superlight
standard
Bull

The superlights are a twitch lot, some guys get good accuracy but it takes work, barrel heating causes lots of trouble.

The standards and bull are not as afflicted 300 yards of coyote or deer is very doable.

Ejection was such an issue that H@R have mostly converted to an extractor, 100% reliable but lots of the handi old timers hate it (personaly I'll take the trade off of reloading speed for 100% reliability).
