Specops stock sticking on recoil

I tried out my new Specops recoil reducing stock on my Norinco HP9-1.

It is sticking in the compressed position aftering firing. I can release it by beating on the forward surface of the pistol grip.

With birdshot and a very light grip it doesn't stick. With birdshot and a very tight grip it will stick occassionally.

With full power slugs it nearly always sticks regardless of how hard I grip it.

I oiled the trigger guard surfaces but it still sticks.

Any suggestions? I see a dremelling job in my near future.

Sounds like a warranty job to me. Have you had the stock very long?

It's brand new from TSE.

I would call Knoxx phone support. They might be able to walk you through a fix of some sort. At worst you get an RMA# for replacement.

Would that be to TSE or to KNoxx or Blackhawk (they recently purchased Knoxx)?

It isn't a warranty issue if the stock is sticking to an oversize trigger guard. The sides of the trigger guard need to be trimmed down with a file.

Can anyone with an 870/HP9-1 with a Specops recoil reducing stock, please micrometer the thickness of their trigger guard for me? Thanks.
Here is the stock, stuck in the compressed position after firing a load of 71/2's.

Last time I checked that part of the stock is not supposed to move like that.
Call Knoxx, and send them that pic.

I bet one of the spring sets inside is not attached to a mount.

I've got a Spec ops that I have not shot with yet and it sticks as well.
I've been working it back and forth and it's a little better I'm hoping it will break in when I shoot it, but it sounds like yours didn't.

Calum, the picture looks just like mine when it sticks at the rear of the travel.
That's how it's supposed to move under recoil.

Ok than, how would the recoil reduction work than if its not supposed to move like that?

If you want to have a gander inside, slide the opening open at the bottom of the pistol grip to see if everything is attached inside there...
file triggerguard, problem solved...
I'll bet on out of size chinese product than out of size knoxx...
But both can and could happen...

this may be obvious - but does the trigger group have an oversize safety? I've run a knoxx breacher's grip on an 870 police with no issues but had to remove the vang big button safety.

I'm running the HP9-1 without any safety (lost the little ball bearing whilst installing a Wison safety) so it's definitely not the safety.

Sounds like a Norinco problem to me... if it's obvious that the trigger guard is what's catching, I'd take a file to it.

I'm running the HP9-1 without any safety (lost the little ball bearing whilst installing a Wison safety) so it's definitely not the safety.

ok just thought i'd ask. Sounds like a combination then of both the SG and the stock being at the limit of their specs. Another possiblilty I've found is that my stock would work loose under recoil until I blue locktited the retaining screw. if it gets loose it may not be aligned properly and bind

I've just been resting the barrel on a rug and working it back and forth with my body weight and pulling up with my right hand on the grip while my left hand holds the receiver down....it's loosened up quite a bit and I'm quite confident that it will smooth out over time.

I fired 75 birdshot and 20 slugs and it didn't seem to be loosening (with respect to getting stuck) at all. My hand was getting sore pounding on the grip to get it to release.

I'm going to micrometer the thickness of the triggerguard tonight so if someone with an 870 could do the same I'd appreciate it. I don't want to start filing the triggerguard if I don't have too.

My 870 and my Spec Ops get along just famously. No sticking. Unfortunately, I'm 1400 km away from the pair, so I won't be able to mic them for a while yet. Sorry.

With my non digital micrometer (can't find my good one just yet...) the Rem gaurd comes in at 12mm/ 1/2 "; maybe a Red either side...
