Is there a holster like a CR Speed that will accomodate both my MP9 production gun and my XD40 standard gun?

CR speed makes a holster for each but I would really rather just buy one holster if I can get away with it. Maybe a conversion part exists?

The guns are similar because they both work fine in my Fobus XD holster.

If you order a CR, you can try it both guns and see if it works for you. If it doesn't - and you don't damage / mark up the holster, you can send it back for full refund. The only cost to you would be shipping. I suggest picking the one that has the widest trigger guard.

Sean provides the best service in Canada. Let us know how the holster works out. I have one for my Shadow but may switch to my M&P for Production.

Ironically FV will be seeing an order for either a holster for my MP/XD or one for a new Shadow. I'm still on the fence about getting one because of my smallish hands and that first DA shot...

You can order Dennis Marshal thin grips for your Shadow. They may help you if your hands are on the small side. I got them to reduce the weight of the gun for IDPA. They do thin the gun substantially.

Thanks for that insight but damn you for making it hard for me to resist getting one. :D

Wondering where you ordered the grips from and if they did make it a go for IDPA?

Here is the link to their site for the grips:

I am impressed with the grips they are light and thin. Very well made and fit the gun.

Here is what I did to get my Shadow to make 39oz weight limit.

Original weight of gun with mag 41.1oz

Less original grips 2.3oz
Less original Mag brake .2oz

Net weight with mag less deletions 38.6oz
Dennis Marshal Grips .4oz

Total weight of gun plus mag 39oz.

I replaced the mag brake with an original mag brake designed for the 75B it weighs next nothing and the combination of + & - ended up with a gun that weighed exactly 39oz with a scale zeroed with a bonze certified weight.

Some factory 10 rd mags weighed in .1oz more than others so you might end up 39.1 oz. Given scale tolerances of + or minus a tenth of a oz you will be good to go.

I also ordered from CZ USA, a wholly owned subsidiary of CZUB a 13# mainspring and a reduced power recoil spring as I am using light loads with a PD of 130ish. The springs also save some weight.

Hope this helps

That's just cool. I gotta start buying more stuff from you guys.

"Similiar" is fine for a Fobus...the fobus cups the entire firearm so a bit of difference is not a big deal.

The CR retains the holster by the trigger guard...and the very top portion of the front strap (that rests on the top of the CR holster)...so similiar is probably not close enough.

Frankly...it sounds like an accident waiting to happen. I wish people would stop trying to jam guns into the wrong holsters...

I agree on the service from FV...top notch.

I got a CR 1911 single stack holster and have run a CZ SP01, CZ Shadow, STI Edge/Spartan/Millenium Custom Sight Tracker, and Glick 17.

Its the do it all holster. Set it up right that is.

I was sent the wrong CR holster by mistake (it was taken care of by the seller...no issues) It was for a Glock...I needed a CZ. There's no amount of f**king about that would have ever made it fit properly (and safely). I've seen...para's in Ghost Holters meant for STI's...and holsters matched with the guns they were designed for...not properly set up (Gugas are the worst)...all completely unsafe

Using a speed holster if you know nothing about setting it up...or jamming the wrong gun in...is just throwing safety out the window.

You won't convince me otherwise...

As for the OP...there's a reason CR makes different holsters for the M&P and the XD...

Just because they don't fall out...doesn't mean they "fit" ;)
