I have a pair of CO2 BB pistols that I use for strong hand / weak hand shooting practice.

They work great, but reloading the magazines is a pain.

I made a speed loader in about 10 minutes. It is similar to a primer tube, if you are a hand loader.

I started with a BIC ball point. Pull the ink tube our and pull off the cap at the top. The pen plastic is brittle, so be careful. Otherwise it will shatter.

You will find that the bore and opening at the top is quite big and BBs will easily fit inside.

The nib end has to be modified to be the "pick-up" end of the loader. It has a quarter inch section that tapers down the bore to less then BB size. The objective is to cut this end back to the point where the bore is just slightly smaller than a BB, so that when the tube is pushed down on a BB it will pop past the constriction, into the tube.

I used a grinder wheel on my Dremel to trim back the nib end in a series of small steps. I screwed up and cut back too far and had a straight tube with a bore larger than a BB.

A lighter was used to briefly heat one end. This made a little fat ring around the end, and the result was the slight constriction.

By pushing down on BBs, they pop into the tube. Then I pull back the loading gate on the magazine and dump the tube of BBs in. This is an almost instant fill. It take a bit of hand manipulation to figure out how to hold everything.

I've done something similar, but you're description sounds like an improvement on mine.

Another trick I use on all my BB mags (I have around ten or so - GSG 92 & an UZI) is to pull the follower down all the way to it's stop, mark it and then drill a hole there (#15 or 3/16" or so). Makes it far easier to load them in, just keep the follower back and tip the mag ahead, BB's load pretty fast.

My M&P mag has a hole to load the BBs and a catch to lock the follower back while loading.

The 1911 mags have a hole but no catch. I am going to see if I can make a notch to hold the follower.

I have a loader I made out of flashing, light aluminum sheet metal, but not as light as the average beer can. There are some very stiff cans that might work.

I cut a strip about 8 inches long, and 2 inches wide and folded it up so it looked a bit like a triangular shaped canoe, with a good radius in the bottom, not a sharp fold. I pinched the back together and riveted it (could be zip tied), and I pinched the front together to a canoe like bow, but angled back and with a gap of about 6 mm. I pour a bunch of BBs in, and they line up and slide right into my gun. If I am shooting in a fixed place, I hold the mag or gun over a magnetic parts tray or bowl, and any that miss the magazine can be given another go.
