Speed loader for ruger mark III magazines

Ruger shop has a diamond shaped one that slips over the mag and depresses the follower. I find it works very well and is super compact.

The only one I know of is the little slide on button holder to help avoid divots in my thumb. I use it when I can find it but all too often it's lost in some other shooting bag.

Get used to picking up 2 or 3 rounds at a time. Then just move the button down and dump the groups of rounds into the mouth. This gets a mag filled in quick time. Likely as quick or quicker than dumping rounds into a speed loader and fumbling with mags to make them fit.

There's another reason to avoid a bulk speed loader. If it's anything like the one I got for my 10-22 mags it's nearly impossible to avoid dimples in the sides of the cartridges. And even with care I found that forcing the rounds into place with that thing resulted in the bullets being loosened in the casings.

Some day I'll tinker with the one I've got to see if I can smoothen it up so it loads the rounds without damage. But in the meantime I'm totally off the idea of bulk loaders simply because of how they handle the ammo.

I've used the McFaden Ultimate Clip loader for years (yup - stupid name). Works great on my Ruger and Buckmark mags and helps keep my hands clean. You better stock up on .22 ammo once you get one though. I can easily go through a brick in a range session. I bought mine at Reliable, I see that Brownells has them too for about $23.

I use the same thing, it saves a ton of time loading magazines for my Ruger 22/45. It is well worth the money and one of my favorite pistol shooting accessories.

Ok great thanks for the info I will definately be getting one for myself to speed up loading time and save the pain in my thumb

I use the Ultimate Loaders too. Mine only load 9 though, the 10th always falls out the slot, back into the bucket of ammo:)

I got mine from CanadaAmmo a few years ago.

I sometimes have that problem too. You can try adjusting the screw at the bottom of the clip loader. It pushes the follower down to make room for the bullets to slide in. Also, the other downside I found to this speed loader is that very waxy bullets like Blazer 525 bulk packs can stick inside the loading channel of the speed loader so you have to shake it a fair bit.

I can't find them on any of the vendors websites. Do I need to start making phone calls or does someone know where I can order one online. Maybe it'll be just as cheap to have one shipped from brownells in the U.S.

Ultimate speedloader is...amazing... like hurts my wallet because I can shoot so easily...

Can't wait to get my hands on one. Where'd you get yours since you're from sask. Too ? Hi cal has them for $39 plus tax and shipping and brownells are quite a bit cheeper but then add customs fees and shipping. Wonder why the cheapest option is? The less money spent on the loader is more money for ammo!!!

Would if I could but mine came with my 22/45 when I bought it off the EE

Amazon has them.

Thanks for this! Mine almost works but not as smoothly as it should. I will go back and try mine again after watching this video to see if I can get mine working as smoothly as in the video...I need to try the Rem oil tip to see if that helps.
