Hi CGN, would like to start shooting revolver. Can you tell me if speed loaders can be used for any revolver as long as it's the same amount as the cylinder and the right caliber?

Thanks in advance

No, they are grouped into frame size, some of which are the same from manufacturer to manufacturer...but not always.

Okay so I guess I shouldn't "stock" up on speedloaders yet until I have the revolver. Still doing my research on what I can afford, I do know I'd want a 357/38spl.

Speed loaders usually have a list of what guns they will fit. Another thing is the actual grips on the gun. A couple of my revolvers have grips that are just a little fatter, and won't clear a speed loader

as other people have pointed out, speedloaders are designed to work with specific models of revolvers based on cylinder size and number of rounds (ie. how far apart each round is from each other). i would purchase the firearm first before shopping for the speedloader.

for my S&W 629 i use 5-star speedloaders and they are great.

Where do you guys buy your speedloaders? My Redhawk came with one and I'd like another HKS 25-5 but they seem hard to be locate. Do any forum vendors sell them?

I got some Safariland SLK from Amazon.ca, HKS from Ebay and some from Wolverine Supply.SL comp 3s are nice.

Even same model may vary like my 686+ is 7 shots, not std 6.

Consider going moon clips when you have a need for speed.
