Speed vs accuracy?

There's a decent chance if you're middle aged and start working a lot on grip strength, you'll start having tendon problems. Something like the Iron Mind grippers will rapidly increase your muscle strength faster than your tendons are capable of strengthening. My GP was telling me that at age 55, if you're routinely resistance training until your muscles are sore after each workout, you'll be at significant risk of tearing tendons within six months.

I don't think Mikey will have that issue.

If you are 55 and have been resistence training for awhile and consistently, you will NOT tear tendons in 6 months. The soreness (not sharp stabbing pain) from resistence training is a must if you want any gains (strength, power, speed etc..) The risk reward ratio is up to the athlete to decide upon. If you death grip anything eventually your forearm flexors and extensors will fail and you will get elbow issues. Biomechanically when you grip your gun you are trying to control the force vectors from the recoil which is done best by controlling the nearest fulcrum (ie. wrist) . Therefore it makes more sense to lock the wrists instead of death griping the gun.
