Looking for a pistol grip stock for the Remington 870 platform and I'd like to know the opinions of those that have had the extensive opportunity of having shot/served/used/abused one.

I love the Speedfeed due to it's simplicity, ruggedness and famed reputation.

Not sure about the odd angled Magpul SGA but would love to know how it compares to a conventional pistol grip stock.

Choate MK5 is/was also on my list, especially due to the 11.5" LOP, but is it ever unattractive!
Also unsure about the finger groves.
I know the Speedfeed can also be cut down further and still have a butt pad attached.

I love the Urbino but hate the flimsy butt pad attachement method and flat backed grip. Yes, I am aware of the Benelli mod.
These mentioned drawbacks are enough to take the Urbino of my list.

I thought of the Knoxx but don't like the possibility of being slapped in the face when not holding it just right in a stressful situation.
I also don't like moving parts on my stock.
Off my list as well.
Also, not everything needs to have a collapsing AR style stock.

I know there is also the FadDefense/Mako stock, just haven't heard of any long term reviews on it

Overall, I'm looking for something that can be used and abused in any and all possible situations and positions, even laying on your side.

I have this stock on my 870P... your body closer to the action with this short stock which makes manipulating it faster. It's the only way to go since it's pretty much snag-free, simple but rugged stock.

I actually prefer the Urbino to the speedfeed, but I also have just bought the Magpul and to me that's the best of the bunch

Anyone have any experience with the Choate MK5?
I like the fact that it can be cut down further with no butt pad reshaping needed. Still one ugly duckling though!

Thanks for the Urbino feedback!
I just dislike the butt pad attachement method. Not solid enough for my needs.

The SGA would more suite my hunting gun.

I use the Speedfeed IV-S myself but I would recommend trying the Magpul stock. I have heard it is actually very comfortable and functional in which case that should take priority over looks.

It's always about function and not esthetics.
I just need a pistol grip stock for this particular application.

You may have to find someone who has them in stock. A dealer told me that speedfeed hasn't renewed their export permit and I know no one stateside will ship here because of it. (I have been trying to get their pistol grip). Hopefully they will renew (they may have already for all I know) and we can start getting their stuff again

Epps has some speedfeed stocks but I don't think anything with a pistol grip, but you could give them a call

Arizona gunrunners and AJ shotgun accessories have both shipped me speedfeed stocks.

The answer I got from Brownell's international department was actually that Speedfeed made the decision not to sell internationally and Brownell's honours that. Maybe that was smoke being blown up my rear, but that's what chicky told me in an e-mail. The smaller companies listed above probably don't pay attention or don't give a rat's arse. I was also ordering the solid stocks that are less than a hundred bucks if that makes a difference.

Worth a try, but I have tried several different companies just recently who normally ship here and no dice
