Hi guys,

I'm looking to buy a 12.5" grizzly and I was going to put one of those speed feed stocks that hold I believe it's 4 rounds in the stock. It's the speedfeed I stock. ( http://www.speedfeedinc.com/?location=products ). Does anyone have this stock? Are they good? Do the shells stay in there or after firing they pop out? Will this stock fit the Grizzly? Do I need some extra hardware or will the standard stock screw hold this thing. Is there any Canadian dealers for this stock or do I have to order it through speedfeed? Thanks.

Check with M.D. Charlton.

The stock will fit well. The tubes retain the shells well.

N.B.: If you plan on shooting weak-hand you might find, on those occasions, a solid stock to be more comfortable.

I'd see if I could find someone who had one to try.
The feel of the stock (especially the forend) is very different than that of the Remington wood or synthetic stock.
I liked the idea, the shells stayed put, but the feel of the gun when it was mounted felt "wrong".
Forend felt too thin and the deep fore/aft groove on either side of the forend had you grip the gun awkwardly. I suppose if I didn't have anything to compare it with I might have stayed with it. However, I also had a full stock synthetic replacement from speedfeed and it just felt more natural. Tried replacing the forend with the speedfeed sporter forend and the 4 shell buttstock but it still didn't feel right. It was better - but still not right.

Might have just been me.

It works, but there are no prefit aftermarket recoil pads for it nor are the shells particularily easy to access.

Remington sells some 870 models with this stock and there new cushy recoil pads so the pads exist it's just finding them that is hard.
