Speer Deep Curl 338

I agree with billdick.

I have used those in my 338-06 as well as the 338-08 aka 338 Federal.

They work very well at the lower velocities, which they were designed to operate at. They can be explosive at magnum velocities.

You were lucky to find them. Hopefully, if you like them, you can find more.

NO they are not ! just cup and core bullet design ! i sawed one in half - NOt impressed at All - just a CHEAP built bullet ! Ok for deer jmo RJ
RJ, you're using them in a 338 Federal, not a 338 Win Mag. They will work just fine on anything you shoot them at.

I never really had a chance to shoot more than a few hundred, which I purchased at our LGS. I guess I could look for more online.

Anything under 200yds and you will be lucky to find the bullet if you hit them in the boiler room.

A shoulder shot will smash the bones reliably and you will likely find a perfect mushroom, retaining about 30% of the weight.

Being an "old school" cup and core bullet, likely it won't be a tack driver, but in my rifles, 1.5 inch groups are pretty much the norm and they hold into 1.5 moa right out to 300 yds.

Considering the price, they're good bullets and will do the job they were designed to do.

I don't believe they're any tougher than the Speer Hot Core bullets. Tough name though.

So I am i a TTSX MONO Guy ! But my new FAVOURITE is the LRX bullet ! RJ
Factory loaded 225 grain ttsx has never let me down in my winmag. I’ve tried loading the 210 grain version without much success in the accuracy department. I find it a hard gun to do load development with because of the recoil, ten shots and I have a headache…

225gr in a 338F is a waste of time anyway
I will agree to disagree with you on that one.

I don't believe the 338 Federal was designed or intended for hunting at ranges much beyond 250 yards.

I load the 225 grain SPFB Hornady bullets into my 338-08 cases and achieve appx 2500fps with W748 over CCI 250 primers.

I've used it on bears, moose and deer, nothing over 150 yds and they go down very quickly. The one moose I shot with it the bullet penetrated a rib on each side and caught up in the offside hide. Perfect mushroom.

I've never been able to recover a bullet from a deer or bear, because the shots have been under 100 yds and go through and through.

You're only getting another 100fps with the lighter bullets and I seriously doubt any animal hit with either will be able to tell the difference.

Swift Bonded A-Frames shot really well out of my 375 Ruger, and hit like a train. They were expensive back then (2015?), but they're a serious bullet for serious performance. I've read some found them not accurate in their hands/rifle?

That said, the only bullets I've ever hated were Rem CorLokt and Nosler BT. Accubonds, Partitions, TSX, GameKings, all shot great handloaded and never failed, so...?
