Any of you folks using (especially taking game with) Speer 123gr Gold Dots in your 7.62x39mm rifles? Curious to hear the results...I mean it looks like a very accurate bullet (as the Fusions are) but is it worth paying a bit of a premium over something like Hornady Interlocks?

What did you think?

Planning on loading them with RL7

If you're planning on shooting bear or moose why not? I've loaded TSX 123gr Barnes but never seemed to be in the chamber when the game stepped out.Wasn't aware until now Speer made a Gold Dot bullet for the 7.62x39. A buddy uses RE#7 but my CZ527 shot best with H4198 with mag primers. His daughter shot a moose last year at 75 yards with a 123gr Privi RE#7 handload.

Very cool, thanks for the info mbogo3, I've been meaning to try H4198 with a CCI #34 primer.

Did a pretty convincing job on the moose?

Moose aren't hard to kill 2 or 3 shots later they walk 25 yards and tilt over if you don't chase them.Penetration was good so one shot would have sufficed but this was her first moose. I had groups shrink from 1 " to less than 1/2" same load just switching to mag primers. I use 25.5gr of H4198 with 122-124gr bullets.PRIVI or Win brass didn't matter.

H110 is a beast in x39. I haven't used it with monometal bullets but something like a Gold Dot should do very well if you seek velocity.

Don't think I've ever seen data for H110 ?

I used Quickload/GRT to develop some loads. I got the idea from the fact H110 does so well in other .30s like .30 Carbine and .300 BLK. It doesn't blow any other powder out of the water but stuff like 1680 is hard to find.

I am going to do some development with CFE BLK soonish. If the data and loads I have built are accurate it should be giving top velocities like H110 without having to operate right at max pressure. Ironically I have found BLK to be a really crappy powder for the .300 so I am hoping it works well enough at least. No idea what to do with the 4-5lbs I have otherwise...
