Looking for info on the Speer Plastic Training bullets.
Has anyone got any feed back on these plastic bullets?
Do they work well, are there any problems?
I know that speer makes them and the product number for the .38 case is SPE8515, bullet is SPE8510. They also come in .44 with the product numbers SPE8525 and SPE8520.
Who carries these? I would like to get some of these to try them out.
The idea of practicing in the garage over the winter has a lot of appeal.
Thanks

I got an unopened pack of rubber .44's. PM me your address and you can have them. I've found that wax works fine for indoor practice - just push an M-T case into a cake of parrifin, until it is full to the case mouth - prime it - shoot it. The wax will penetrate a cardboard box at 30'.

Speer Plastic bullets

I have used both the 38 and the 44 plastic bullets. They work fine in both calibers and are quite accurate. Make sure you have a good backdrop as they ripped through a pillow we had put in a box. Was quite surprised at their power. Used the .44's to shoot two packrats that got in our house one winter. Went right through them. While wax works well also these are less messy and you can re-use them for a long time.

Plastic Speer Bullets with powder

Speer does not recommend putting in any powder. The primers can back out and lock up your revolver. Cases can split as well. Not recommended. Paintball guns work better on dogs anyway.

And you can put a teeny bit of powder int he case and they are good for whacking the neoighbors dog that keeps getting into your yard

I guess a less than lethal 12 guage rubber slug would be too loud. :D :D

12 ga slug would likely kill the dog...run a hole right through him....

This guy took a bean bag in the hand to dislodge the pistol he was carrying.

Paintball guns are pretty expensive these days!;)

I know that Speer doesn't reccomend it. Handloaders tend to experiment a bit, though...:p
