Hi All - my first post here and I'm doing it for a friend!!!
He was given a 56-56 cal Spencer Repeating Carbine (serial number below 250) from a guy he knows and he was wondering how the rifle is field stripped and a general value for it. The barrel hasn't been cleaned yet but it looks to be in only fair condition. The outside of the barrel and receiver has a light to medium rust layer on it with a good possibility of it cleaning up fairly well. The forestock has a small crack in the wood running forward from the rear for about 3 inches otherwise it appears to be in fairly good condition. Any help would be appreciated - Thanks
No pics because I don't think I'm allowed - sorry

A Spencer can have significant value. He should be extremely cautious about doing anything. Don't know where you are, perhaps you are near someone with real expertise.
