Spindle Valve Pin

Anyone have any hints on how to install a spindle valve retaining pin. The pin is pretty tight so getting it started appears next to impossible.

Done this lots with many USGI setups, but never with a Norc... BIG ViseGrip, maybe?

It's a SA cylinder and valve.

Same boat

I'm in the same position. NM gas cylinder and wondering how to start that darn pin without marring anything. Sorry about the pm Hungry. I had already sent it before I saw this post.

I don't remember clearly, but I think I started mine using a hammer, a small plastic one of course. Then used a 1/16" punch along with the hammer to push the pin evenly on the spindle valve.

Have you blocked the valve with a drill bit through the vent hole? If not, do so otherwise you'll never be able to compress the spring AND put the pin at the same time.

Just the hint I was looking for! Pin installed no problem once I had the cylinder assy in the vice and could work with both hands installing the pin. I figured there was something obvious eluding me. Drill bit through the vent hole, too simple.

Great! Tell me about the results of your new setup with the ajustable plug, I haven't installed mine on any of my M14 yet.
